Chinoiserie Swimmer Series- The paintings are about viewing the figure as a vessel.  Each figure has a unique design that defines each individual person and their experiences in life.   In some cultures, if the vessel is cracked, or is imperfect, it is mended with silver or gold leaf glue to celebrate these imperfections as a part of the character building and depth of the person's unique circumstances.  The silver leaf thread in the Chinoiserie paintings "mends" these cracks in the swimming figures.  The chinoiserie series honors each person's traumas and triumphs that build the stories that create each person's life experience.  This painting is an acrylic mixed media work with embroidery thread on silver leaf.  The painting measures 20" X 20" X 1.5" and has a wire on the back for easy display.  "Diving Down" can be a strong painting on its own or in a group of others.  The fluid movement and decorative patterns of the figures creates a serene experience for each viewer that sees it.
